Big John

I recently drew a spot illustration for fireworks packaging named BIG JOHN. I try to approach everything with the same level of respect, so I wanted to make it spiffy while having some fun, too.

The drawing started off with a bit of hand lettered type interwoven between the dude's head and legs, but that was dropped as was an edgier expression on his face. After the client's input, I detailed it up a bit more and this is the end result.



I left room above and beyond the dude as they intend to do up their own treatment on the type. Pretty soon, I hope to upload (or torrent) a 38 minute long video of its creation.
