Gladiators (A Vertical Racing)

ANNOUNCER: "Hummmm... Rider #5 is holding a Morning Star but Rider #99 seems to have lost his weapon (that's why he uses his own bike to block #5's way...?)...Or maybe Rider #99 is just a awful rider and Rider #5 is about to teach him to pay more attention on the road...!"



I was looking for a some kind of chaotic scene to draw and I wanted to create a llustration inspired in images like Ben Hur's carriot race... Also, I had this tiltle in mind: "Vertical Racing"... Here we have those two gladiators/racers (The only way I could find to justify the term "Vertical Racing" was putting them riding on mechanical spiders... Originally, I wanted them to be grasshoppers ) in a violent collision...

The spider design was created with bikes in mind. They're spider-bikes so to speak... I imagine the race taking place in a complex of vertical tunnels made of web-like cables where the riders could run and beat each other for the pleasure of the audience...
