I've been looking at a lot of Shane Glines and Kyle Baker lately, and it amazes me how effectively they can break a character into simple shapes. I figured I'd try it with Superman, since he's so iconic to begin with, how hard could he be? Just quick warm-up sketch that i ended up liking enough to color. I threw the step-by-step up on my blog if anyone is bored enough to look at it!

Aaron that's awesome! :)
Beautifully done! (What a very cool drawing exercise...I must try that...)
very graphic approach to the Man O' STEEL here. I like it a lot but have only one little nitpick. I would like the blur to match the perspective of the starburst in the bg a little more closely..Other then that big props for using a vintage superman design..
I personally like the red "S" on the black shield.
Nice
That's a good point, Gogo! I have it on separate layers, so I can go back and fix that easily! Thanks!
arron sowd, kickin' ass as usual!
