I received an e-mail from Jeff earlier today, roundly telling me off – he said
Why am I learning about your "One Mile From Home" site on Drawn??? That is fantastic!
Would you please post some information about it on SFG? I want SFG to be a place that people can share news and important events, along with great artwork.
So, just so you know, I have a day job as a self-employed graphic designer, and I'm also a mother of 4, so blogging was my one opportunity to produce drawings and illustrations for my own pleasure. However a year or so of it was leading to that problem 'blogger's bum'. Anyway to force myself out the door to do at least a little exercise in April 2006 I set myself the 'One mile from home' challenge where I had to walk at least a mile from home, record the walk with a sketch or some kind of art and return home, every day, for a year. It was a fascinating experience, where more importantly, apart from getting fitter, it helped me through a long period of depression due to the death of my mother a couple of months in. I've made some very good on-line friends (some who joined me) through the exercise and many of them have said that they would love a book of the project, so at the moment I'm working on producing a book which I'm hoping I can get ready for print in a couple of months time (it has to fit around everything else). Hope that'll do Jeff!

That sounds like a great idea... I also work for myself in a small town in Texas and there's a lot of days that I do not get out because I am busy or something else...Lazy? So, I think to force yourself out and do something positive...physical and mental break is very important... not only that, but for what I have seen, hte results are quite beautiful,,,

Kdos for you!

Just for curiosity...How much time in average did you spend on these?

Yes, that'll do just fine.

hi nick, it varied from five minutes - when I had too much else on - to a couple of hours - when I had some free time. However the majority of the pictures took between 10 minutes to half an hour. glad to oblige, jeff
