M. Betterave

This is a graphite on paper study of a character - M. Betterave (Mr. Beet) - who is the principal in a black comedy/tragedy series of miniature paintings I have begun to develop. In this scene, we see M. Betterave at home, eating beetles and drinking red ink for dinner.

I am hoping this series will bridge the gap between the lighthearted silliness of the work I am posting on the Tindaisies blog, with the darker, more introspective work on my fine art blog.

The series will eventually be shown as a body of work in a traditional gallery setting although a folio of prints or a small book would be a nice accompaniment.
