Gone Fishing

Every fisherman has a great story to tell. The more over excaggerated the better, which reminds me of the book "popular music from vittula" by Mikael Niemi. If you haven't read it yet, you're seriously missing out on a great tale

Any way this was painted with watercolours on hot pressed watercolour paper

Shameless

Hey Everybody. It's been a long time since I posted last... sorry... Here is a portrait I did of comedian Louis CK. It's done in pencil and photoshop. Louis is a horrible, and horribly funny man. Check out his dvd "Shameless" it's hilarious.

Ink & Mess nesting dolls

Here they are, the wee beasties. Hope you enjoy them. It was my first try on this particular set of dolls. I have another set at home from a different company, I'm hoping the quality of the finish is a bit better...less chips and grain marks in the wood. Any feedback much appreciated!

This is the final art from the sketch I posted here.

New Version of Furry Friend Illustration

I made some more "furry friends" and I thought that it would make the illustration more interesting.

What do you think?

Two Parrots

Was working on this over the weekend and was really happy with how it turned out- submitting it for a group art show themed  around the color "Green"- planning on mounting it (ink/colored pencil on paper) on a wood panel and varnishing it (thinking of perhaps lightly staining the paper so it's not pristine white, but not 100% sure yet)

running...

this is for a project a did back on december 2008 for a client call Ideas frescas "fresh ideas".
I did like the result very much...:D!

At The Movies!

I've been noodling with this for a little while, working on it in between other projects. I might touch it up a little bit still, but it's basically finished. It's an illustration of a bunch of my favorite film directors enjoying a movie together. Can you recognize any of them? Click through the image to see a bigger version, complete with notes on who each director is and some of the films they've done.

New York Times Illustration

Here is an illustration that I did for The New York Times. Art directed by Aviva Michaelov.

The article was called I Want My Free TV, about the delay of the long-planned switch from analog television to digital, which was supposed to happen this week, but now it won’t take place until June.

Hope you like it!

SFG: Clowns

This week's challenge is "Clowns"

Be sure to add the appropriate label to your entry - SFG: Clowns

The next challenge begins Monday, March 2nd, 2009.

The SFG Challenge was created to challenge every member to stretch their creative muscles, venture outside of their artistic boundaries and post their interpretations each week on a specific theme. You are enthusiastically encouraged to participate!

One last thing, advertising rates on SFG and Design Inspiration are at an all-time low. Contact me today to find out how you might be able to benefit by promoting your business, website or store on SFG.

Have a great week!

Update!

Last week I posted an illustration of a vulture in a pinstripe suit. It accompanied a newspaper article in which the readers were asked what they thought a suitable punishment would be for the bankers accused of messing up the world economy.
The verdict by the readers: force them to come to work in a clown-suit.

Jeff I guess this one doesn't count for the chicken challenge, does it?

Instinct

did it for IF. Wanted to share with SFG. First thing I've colored without the use of the wacom in a long time. Prismacolor markers.

SFG: chicken

The yellow is painted with yolk, so in this case I can say with certainty that it was the egg that came first. To read more about it visit my blog.

New Doodles

I've got more Doodles here from meetings that I attend. I got 6 done the other day. I'm going to start posting all of the doodles that I do within a couple weeks time so you can see what I do when I'm just listening to someone else speak. It's not that I'm bored when I do this, it just helps me pay attention and stay awake,... since I can fall asleep at the drop of a hat apparently. I don't know why I'm like this but I think it may run in the family. In that case, I absolve myself of ownership or blame. Anyway, here's a bunch of doodles from last week. Enjoy and have an awesome weekend!
