Media Tribunal - Press Freedom threatened in South Africa
The ANC government is about to initiate the Media Tribunal - basically, if you're a journo and you report on 'classified' documents, you could get a 25 year prison term. This after the local press has exposed scandal after scandal involving government officials - anything from bribery and corruption, looting of state coffers, scandalous spending sprees and nepotism (our president's son is about to become a billionaire at age 28 through a 'strategic' deal with ArcelorMittal).
This new Bill would allow any members of government to declare any document as 'classified'.
