A series of Illustrations for an article about The Vault, a mafia-run club in the meat-packing district of NYC. Due to an "accident of geography", wherein the D.O.T. had decided the locale was to be condemned in favor of street expansion, the clubs owners were able to sell everything within the space to the state, as long as it looked permanent. After nailing everything to the floor and placing their own price tags on crude, custom-built items, they came away with $1.8million in taxpayer money.
