New World

Ok, I actually did this one back in March, but it's the most recent finished work I have, and it has in fact, never been seen online before today. If you're interested in specs, I'll post on A Certain Lack of Focus just as soon as I'm done with this post.

Mech Tree

Last week when I saw that the SFG was sketch, I was thrilled because I figured I'd finally have time to participate. Guess not. Better late than never? Here's my Mech Tree sketch:
Not at all related to Harry Potter. Maybe I'll post one of those in a month or two.

Up, up, please get me down

This is oldish, but seemed appropriate.

This was part of my BFA thesis. My style is sort of different now, but still tends to involve lots of wings.

Froud-ed

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who's be influenced by Brian Froud. Here's a caricature I did of him a while ago:
I was trying to imitate the style he uses in books like the Goblin Companion, loose and sepia toned. The background is white not grey, that's just the photo quality.

Nice - Wedding

I haven't posted anything here in ages because I've been preparing for my wedding, but I thought the wedding invitation fit this week's topic:The inside says "First comes love," followed by all the wedding info. (we got married at the zoo!) We got back from the honeymoon on Sunday (just in time to vote) and if anyone is interested, I'm posting honeymoon journal pages on my blog.

star fire

Here's a drawing for the fire theme...I was kinda thinking birth of a star or something... I actually like the color more than the drawing which is weird since I typically don't work in color.

Mall Santa

A santa sketch I did for my blog. I was going to ink it but I've gotta get ready for the holidays...

Illustrator not Anonymous

Hi, my name's Meagan B. Call. I'm a writer and wannabe illustrator.
I'm currently working on my mfa in creative writing and am not entirely sure how to go about getting actual illustration work (or writing work for that matter, I'm pretty useless when it comes to employment). Any suggestions and especially technical critiques would be appreciated. Even if they're mean, but I warn you I'll make faces at you through my monitor if you're mean. My portfolio can be found here: www.hadesarrow.com but it's kinda outdated (I'm in Hosting Purgatory). I post a sketch every day on my blog: hadesarrow.blogspot.com among with vague ramblings about things that I think are design related but are usually just random. I've been following SFG for a while and I'm looking forward to joining in the fun. Thanks everyone, have a nice Christmas, Chanukah, winter solstice or Holiday of your choice.
