Airport Security

A small gig, but very fun. Scanners are being tested at airports now to help with security. So I tried to have some fun with the clients request. THe first round showed more of a skeleton in the scanner, but the water bottle looked like a concealed package tucked inside the body cavity in true drug mule style. SO, we opted for a more "body" shape over skeleton.

When traveling, keep in mind, YOU might be having to walk through a scanner!

BEFORE AND AFTER a short film

Here's a little short animation I made a few years back with experimental videographer (and music video director) William Haun:

In my Neighborhood

Not far from my apartment you'll find this little enclave of old shacks and run down mobile homes. This house is hanging over the canal standing on stilts

Inside Donkey Kong

So you thought you used to play 2D games. If you had taken a look inside your monitor, then you'd have seen this.

The featured game is Donkey Kong from Nintendo, a classic 8-bit game for the arcades, released in 1983.

Would be great to see a series of these scenes released as tangible designer gadgets. If anyone is interested to realize that, just get in touch with me. I can deliver the 3D scenes ready for rapid prototyping.

I'm planning to create more scenes like this, derived from other 8-bit classics, so stay tuned. Here's Impossible Mission.

Garbage: Stinky Character Design

Hey, here's my submission for Garbage. I went to college at the Illinois Institute of Art and one of the pieces of your portfolio to complete the school was character design of an inanimate object. This was my submission. For more of my junk, check out my website.

Christine Marie Larsen: Happy Earth Day

Happy Earth Day, earthlings!

Tiger versus Leopard

Over The Pond

I was shocked by how good the pub food was in England. Definately not expecting that at all. The way they make their green peas a little crunchy, then I mix them in with my potatoes and gravy. Wash that down with a little Ale. Yummy. Last time I was in London was 20 years ago and I didn't have too great a time. Today I found it to be such a clean city with so many famous landmarks. There is something cool to see every turn you take. Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abby, Big Ben, The Ferris Wheel, London Bridge and so on. When I was drawing on the street people are very reserved and don't approach me very much unlike other cities. The only ones who consistently came over to see what I was drawing was homeless men. They're big fans of mine in England. I purchased one of those mini HD flip cameras. I tried to make a few little films of me drawing but it wasn't easy with everything I was up to. Seeing friends, drawing, taking photos, hanging out with Yun, eating and now trying to make videos. It was a bit much.

SFG: Garbage

Being one who enjoys the ability to interpret themes as loosely as possible and get away with it, behold: the "garbage" I come up with when I'm bored at work. Hope y'all digs! Comments welcome. (See if you can figure out who each one is!)

Inside Impossible Mission

So you thought you were playing 2D games. If you had taken a look inside your monitor, then you'd have seen this.

The featured game is Impossible Mission from Epyx, a classic 8-bit game for the Commodore 64, released in 1983.

SFG: Garbage

This week's challenge: Garbage

Inspired by the propensity, in my house anyway to engage in a large amount of "Spring Cleaning" this time of year. This week's challenge is all about the stuff you throw out. I could see a lot of different directions to take this one, interested to see what you guys can do with it. Enjoy yourselves!

A new Drawing

Nick out for a stroll

Don't tell my older brother but this is a painting about him. Well, what he looked like as a kid. He was a 40 year old accountant in a 10 year old's body. Yeah, there were still some of these old cars around when we were kids. Not many but a few.
Now he works for home land security and looks like an older accountant general.

ghillustration.ca gets a new look

hey peeps... I recently revamped my portfolio site. I haven't tested it on all browsers yet, but you can check it out at ghillustration.ca.

This is a piece I did recently for a story about a lumberjack who gets lost in the woods for the winter and survives, but has to amputate his own feet.

HabbenINK and Montana Skate!

OnDeck4, the Montana Skatepark Association's annual fundraiser begins today! Click here to see the amazing gallery of deck up for auction! I had a great time creating my deck for this show and am grateful to be included in this effort to provide places for skaters to enjoy their sport and pursue their goals.

The present that keeps on giving

Red riding hood tulips
These lovely Red Riding Hood tulips were a birthday present. I’ve drawn them with a dip pen and watercolour to make a picture for a birthday card and now that the petals have fallen off I’m going to plant the bulbs to enjoy them in the garden next year

Doodle Swap

Back in February, I came up with the idea of a doodle swap as a fun way to stimulate my sketching, doodling and drawing activities. I gathered a group of doodlers via the HOW design forum and thus it began. There were two small groups, we all drew original 2.5" x 3.5" doodles and mailed one to each person in our group. So, in theory you should receive as many pieces of tiny original art as you send out. So far it's been a great little project and I hope to do it again soon!

Since I started the whole scheme, I put myself into both groups so I could see all the results. Here are my 16 tiny contributions.

It's a fledgling project, but if anyone is interested in joining up for round #2, check out the blog I have begun for the project and "follow" the blog to get updates about the next doodle swap!

SFG: FUZZY

I saw a surgeon a few weeks back.

POST-OP=NO FUZZY
..Yeah, when you have surgery and your fuzzy to begin with they make you less fuzzy prior to the cutting. It can be humbling, and itchy, but certainly less then FUZZY..
