Happy Holidays, Everyone. I didn't print a card this year, but hope you'll enjoy the e-Card I've made for this year's holiday wishes. All the best to you and yours, and a wonderful 2014!

Characters shown above are the Krampus, Burl Ives' Snowman from Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer, and the Prize Lamp from Gene Shepherd's A Christmas Story.

The background is an Alpine forest in snow, typically seen in your local Motel 6 or Holiday Inn.

The characters are drawn in my sketchbook, then imported into Photoshop CS6 where I paint, apply textures and muss about with a Wacom Cintiq.

Cyberkrampus

I made this for CyberMonday and kinda like it. I think I will make more robot krampus in the future. THE FUTURE!

Eine Kleine Krampusnachtmusik by Jessica Fortner

The Krampus is a demonic creature who accompanies St. Nicholas during Christmas to punish bad children. Feared by the children of Eastern Europe, Krampus is known to thrash the bad ones with birch branches, and is liable to scoop them into his basket for a short trip to the underworld!

His grim legend is the theme for the Krampusnacht 2010 show at Resistor gallery in Toronto. Shown here is Jessica Fortner's Krampus illustration titled "Eine Kleine Krampusnachtmusik".

I create Krampus Kards annually for friends, family and associates and then I sell them the following year on my Etsy shop to regular humans. This year I’m cutting costs and creating a postcard (instead of single fold greeting cards) inspired by an actual old world xmas design from Czechoslovakia. In 19th Century Germany, legend had it that those who were pure of heart bore witness to the magic of Christmas Eve. St. Nikolaus would drift in on the cloak of night, leaving gifts and treats for the girls and boys who've been goldenly good all year. Children of goodwill springing from their bed to find a surprise of joy to fill the air.
Disobedient children, however, would awake to shakes and shivers. Terrorized by the thought of another visitor in the night. For those who have
behaved badly are paid a visit by. . .
the KRAMPUS.
