Gemma Robinson Illustrates For Educause Review

US based Educause Review commissioned me to illustrate three stories in their March/April issue. Educause Review is an award-winning magazine which takes a broad look at current developments and trends in information technology and how they may affect colleges and universities. All three stories were in some way linked to the impact technology has on higher education.

Disaggregated Accreditation by Gemma Robinson
The first story was about accreditation and the need to view higher education institutions as fragments rather than a whole in our rapidly changing world.

We Love E-Books by Gemma Robinson
The second story was titled 'We Love E-Books!' and focused on the need to increase the availability of e-books at libraries.  You can read the story here.

Gateway To The Universe by Gemma Robinson
The third story was about the disruptiveness of technology within higher education which, if embraced, can expand the classroom beyond the limits of four walls to encompass the whole known universe. Full story here.

DVD Cover Designs - Blade Runner & Casablanca

So it's been a HELL of a long time since I last posted anything and there have been quite a few changes in my life. Most notably I am back in school taking a three year Graphic Design program. I'll post more later but here are my two latest works - DVD redesigns for Blade Runner and Casablanca. The assignment was to create an entirely new cover for a randomly assigned film in a style of our choosing. I got ambitious and decided to make two! For Blade Runner I went with a 1950's pulp novel look, and for Casablanca I went with an early 1960's pop art look. Hope ya digs! Comments and constructive criticisms welcome.

OH! Additionally, my blog address has changed (to): http://markreslater.tumblr.com

Eine Kleine Krampusnachtmusik by Jessica Fortner

The Krampus is a demonic creature who accompanies St. Nicholas during Christmas to punish bad children. Feared by the children of Eastern Europe, Krampus is known to thrash the bad ones with birch branches, and is liable to scoop them into his basket for a short trip to the underworld!

His grim legend is the theme for the Krampusnacht 2010 show at Resistor gallery in Toronto. Shown here is Jessica Fortner's Krampus illustration titled "Eine Kleine Krampusnachtmusik".

Check out illustrator Jessica Fortner's amazing animated illustration about how consumer demand for newer better gadgets is driving a wasteful industry.

Blast from the past!

I did these sketches a few years back for some reason but I've always liked them and maybe some day I'll get around to painting them or doing color versions in Illustrator. See you next post!

hello everyone!

i am "the angry hedonist" (i know, leftovers of my teenage angst! slightly embarrassing, but some things never change ^^) and i do illustrations of pre-defined "pretty" girls/women in various states of dimemberment, delusions, dilemmas and violence.

SFG: Scary

Treasure Secretary Henry Paulson has been trying to put out one fire after another in the financial sector by throwing tax dollars at it. Most of what I've been reading and hearing in the news is that we're headed for a major global recession no matter what. Boy, aren't you glad we put the Republicans in charge for the last eight years?

The Doctor is In

I'm a huge fan of the newest version of Doctor Who, so I thought it would be cool to illustrate the newest doctor (along with my favorite of his companions, Freema Agyema) as the cover to a classic comic book.

Robots Cook!

Well, here we are again. This week’s addition to my weekly ABC book project is C is for Cook. I had some debate with my wife on what sort of cook I should be doing. I even briefly flirted with the idea of changing the letter C to Chop and doing a robot sushi chef, but then I started thinking about depicting “hey, kids, it’s fun to play with knives," and decided it was best to return to my original idea. As always, I invite you to check out my regularly updated blog Robot Alphabet to track my progress on my book. You can also check out my portfolio site and other blog here.
