The Fop Sings! And It's About Jersey Shore!

Not since Bobby "Boris" Pickett's Monster Mash has a novelty song been this... sweet. It seems artist (and noted archaeologist) Owen Schumacher—who for the purpose of this article is writing in the third person—has recouped what would have been a lost weekend by elatedly recording his loving ode to all things GTL—namely, the epically catchy single, Never Fall in Love at the Jersey Shore! [Preview and purchase your copy today at iTunes, CD Baby or Amazon.]
Even long-time Jersey Shore fanatics Greg Gutfeld and the cast of Red Eye're psyched to the point of transvestism! So it's not just Owen on Hollywood and Vine!

What're you waiting for—a better Jersey Shore-themed novelty single?!

Oh, really? Oh—nevermind, then. You'll just be waiting a long time.

SFG: Jazz

Here's a piece I created for Roll, a local magazine here in the Hudson Valley. They offered me lots of creative freedom and a case of Belgian ale. A perfect combination.

Black-Eyed Snakes Video - Rise Up!

For the past 11 years, Duluth Minnesota has hosted the Homegrown Festival. Originally started as a birthday party for a local dj / band member / all-around good guy, it has grown into a weeklong, areawide festival of music, arts, plays, poetry and more. A sort of SXSW for our North Central region. New this year was a Video Festival: participants drew a local band and song out of a hat and had 48 hours to make a video. Here's a link to mine for the Black-Eyed Snakes:

Black Eyed Snakes - Rise Up! from Brian Barber on Vimeo.

I snuck in a scene with Duluth's mayor, he asked me for the still image, and it's now his Facebook profile picture. Whew! I thought he might send his goons out after me. Lot's of local references in here, so if they don't make sense outside of Minnesota, I apologize.
But here's all you really need to know:
- Duluth is on Lake Superior
- Lake Superior attracts tourists
- and seagulls
- There's a bridge that has to move up and down several times a day to let boats through a canal.
- Black-Eyed Snakes are an awesome band and I was really lucky to draw that song.

Radiohead On Rainbows

Here is a caricature I did of the band. I started it back in November before I could find any Album artwork on iTunes. Then I sat on it for a long time, finally I decided to finish it.

Dolittle - “Hello To The Fortunate Few”. A visual cd review by nerosunero!

  1. Sometime ago SubVert, a Blog and Magazine based in England, invited me to visual review “Hello To The Fortunate Few” a great album from English cult band Dolittle. I immediatly "take up the challenge and (I am telling you) I enjoyed it and the music a lot. Now if you like you can see the result of my and other visual cd reviews on line at SubVert Magazine.
