Mother Sucker

Image hosting by Photobucket
A third inevitability of life in these parts – besides death and taxes – is the 'skeeter (Winnipeg's official bird, as the tired cliché goes). My submission for this week's Illustration Friday theme ("insect"), this mosquito was the first insect I've ever drawn - helped greatly by some handy reference material I have at work. Done up in pen during the Academy Awards and digitally messed with the following night – and as always, the full story can be checked out here.

(Only female mosquitoes bite, hence the post title.)

Jeope,

This is so cool! I am going to show this to my students this week and explain how your artwork shows the balance and relationship between 'Design' and 'Illustration'. Not only is your foundation strong ie the 'Concept' but the 'Illustration' is strong and whole piece is 'Designed' well.

Three Thumbs Up!
